A Full Circle Moment: Warsaw Federal Team Member Becomes Owner of Habitat for Humanity’s 700th Home

In May 2025, Rodreana Horton, customer service representative at Warsaw Federal, stood proudly in front of her newly built home, the 700th home constructed by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati. This moment marked a full circle journey for Horton, who not only received the keys to her forever home but also experienced the impact of community support.

Her path to homeownership began in January 2024 following a devastating house fire. Determined to rebuild her life, she applied for Habitat for Humanity’s program in April 2024 and was approved shortly after.

“Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati is a great organization,” Horton said. “The building process itself was amazing, too. I took all the classes: financials, maintenance 101, drywalling, and yard care 101. Instead of a down payment, you put your time into building the home. It’s a major part of the program.”

“Every Saturday, I was hands-on for eight hours helping build my future home,” she continued. “Meeting my five new neighbors was a highlight of the process, too. I’m so grateful.”

Becoming the owner of her home holds immense meaning for Horton and her family.

“It means everything to me,” Horton said. “I can pass this house on to my kids. To have my forever home is a wonderful feeling, I’m ready for a fresh start and the journey has been great.”

As a local mutual bank that’s dedicated to supporting its communities, Warsaw Federal’s employees supported Horton through her homeownership process.

“I received a lot of support from my colleagues,” she said. “I’ve even had a team member come out and help build the walls.”

Horton has a message of encouragement for those in the Cincinnati area considering applying for a Habitat for Humanity home or supporting the organization.

“I would tell folks to give it a try and if the application isn’t approved the first time, keep going and keep trying.” she said. “It’s a process. Everyone puts in their application, you do an interview, and then they take it to the board for a vote. After they choose you, they call you and ask if you want the house, and then you can begin customizing the inside.”

Horton’s commitment to the community extends beyond her own homeownership. She remains dedicated to giving back as she looks forward to a fresh start.

“I do a lot of volunteering with previous Habitat of Humanity homeowners to give back,” she said. “It’s a way to stay connected and help others who are going through the same process.”

Her story is a testament to the power of community and the impact of local organizations like Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati. If you’re interested in submitting an application to purchase a Habitat for Humanity home, check out these details.
